Rollover crash closes northbound U.S. 23 for 3-1/2 hours

On Monday, July 13, 2020, at approximately 5:38 a.m., deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover injury crash on northbound US-23 south of White Lake Road in Tyrone Township.

A 33-year-old Van Buren Township resident was operating a 2019 Toyota straight box truck on North US23. The driver was distracted and began to leave the roadway, over-steered and lost control. The truck left the right side of the roadway, striking the guardrail prior to overturning. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and suffered only minor cuts. The driver refused treatment and was released at the scene.

The box truck was unloaded by hand extending, the right lane closure for 3-1/2 hours.

Speed and alcohol use do not appear to be a factor in this crash.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by Fenton Area Fire Department and Livingston County Ambulance.
