A 2-year-old Genoa Township toddler is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a car on Monday.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the 2-year-old was riding a scooter west on Fairview Court with their mother following when they were struck by an 84-year-old Genoa Township resident in a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox who was turning east onto Fairview Court from Horseshoe Court.

The toddler was transported to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Equinox did not have any injuries.

Alcohol use does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. The roadway was closed for three hours for the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
