The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office executed two search warrants simultaneously at a home on North Street in the City of Howell at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 8. The searches garnered lots of attention among area residents, as well as on social media.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the warrants executed were in connection with an ongoing fraud/weapons/drug case that its Detective Bureau and the City of Howell Police Department have been investigating.

A suspect was identified, and the search warrants were conducted on places the suspect was associated with. The Livingston County Regional SWAT team conducted one search because intelligence gathered indicated there may have been weapons in the house. The Detective Bureau conducted the second search to recover evidence.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Livingston County Regional Swat Team, the City of Howell Police Department, and Livingston County Animal Control.

There was no threat to the public at any time, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and the use of the SWAT team was precautionary to ensure the safety of the occupants in the house and the officers on the scene.
