One dead in crash on US-23 south of M-59

A Fenton woman was killed in a rollover crash on northbound US-23 south of M-59/Highland Road in Hartland Township at approximately 6:20 p.m. Monday, March 16, and her passenger was transported to U-M Medical Center in Ann Arbor with non-life threatening injuries.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover fatal crash. The preliminary investigation reveals that a 61-year-old Fenton woman was driving a 2004 Honda northbound on US-23 when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Livingston County Ambulance.

The vehicle was also occupied by an 11-year-old passenger from Fenton who was transported to U-M Medical Center in Ann Arbor with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver was wearing her seatbelt and appears to have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by Hartland Area Fire Department, Livingston County Ambulance, and Michigan State Police.

This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team.
