Man held on $1M bond in attack of two Putnam Township men with baseball bat

Wayne Phil Seely

A Stockbridge man is being held in the Livingston County Jail on a $1 million cash bond after being arraigned Aug. 25, 2020, on a variety of charges stemming from an assault on two Putnam Township residents with a baseball bat on Friday, Aug. 21, 2020. His family is seeking help from a bail bonds company.

Wayne Phil Seely, 41, of Stockbridge, was charged in Livingston County’s 53rd District Court with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

The charges stem from the Aug. 21 incident in which Seely is alleged to have assaulted two acquaintances, both 40-year-old Putnam Township residents, with a baseball bat in the 5000 block of Paterson Lake Road in Putnam Township.

Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, but Seely fled the scene prior to their arrival. He was later located at his home in the 3900 block of Dexter Trail in Stockbridge.

The Livingston County Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene, and Seely was taken into custody without incident after several hours of on-scene negotiations.

The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
