Man found hiding in mom’s garage after fleeing police in high-speed chase after traffic stop

At approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday June 16, 2020, a deputy with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle speeding westbound on I-96 near M-59 in Howell Township. A traffic stop was conducted on M-59 near Burkhart Road on the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, which was listed as wanted from a previous flee and elude in Redford Township on June 9, 2020.

Upon making contact, the driver, a 28-year-old male from West Bloomfield, refused to exit the vehicle or provide identification to the deputy. The driver reported that he was trying to make it to his mother’s house in Pinckney prior to fleeing the scene of the traffic stop. A short chase ensued as the subject entered onto eastbound I-96 at speeds of 110 mph. Deputies terminated the chase as the subject exited at D-19 and continued southbound toward Pinckney.

Deputies, along with officers from Hamburg Township Police, Pinckney Police, and Michigan State Police, responded to the area where the subject had reported he was heading and located the vehicle abandoned.

The subject was located hiding in the garage of his mother’s residence in Putnam Township. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Livingston County Jail. The subject is facing charges of flee and elude, resisting police, and driving while license suspended.
