Driver ejected from vehicle in fatal crash on I-96 in Fowlerville

On July 3, 2020, at approximately 11:42 p.m., deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to westbound I-96 east of Fowlerville Road for a motor vehicle crash involving a Honda Accord.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a 28-year-old Redford resident was operating a 2008 Honda Accord westbound on I-96 at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic when it lost control going into the median, rolling several times. The Redford resident was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

The Redford resident was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and drugs and speed both appear to be factors. I-96 was closed for approximately two hours while Deputies investigated.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Howell Area Fire Department, Livingston County Ambulanc, Fowlerville Police Department, Fowlerville Fire Department, and the Department of Homeland Security

The crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.
