Crash at Oak Grove and E. Barron roads sends 2 to hospital

The intersection of Oak Grove and East Barron roads in Howell Township was closed for approximately five hours Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, for an investigation into a two-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital, one of whom was in critical condition.

At approximately 6:48 a.m., deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection. According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 33-year-old Howell woman was traveling west on East Barron Road in a 2014 Toyotal Corolla and she failed to stop at the intersection. The Toyota Corolla was struck by a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old Byron man. Both drivers were transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS: the woman driving the Toyota was in critical condition; the man in the Ford truck was in stable condition with possible minor injuries.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff Traffic Safety Division.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County Ambulance.
