Two injured in head-on crash on Dorr Road

A two-car crash just north of the intersection of Dorr and Crooked Lake roads in Genoa Township sent two people to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, where both are listed in serious condition.

The preliminary investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office shows that at approximately 1:11 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, a 75-year-old Brighton man driving a 2019 Honda CRV north on Dorr Road crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, striking head-on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am being driven by a 31-year-old Howell woman.

Both drivers — who were the only occupants in their vehicles — were transported to UM Medical Center by Livingston County EMS. Both had been wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Dorr Road was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation and cleanup.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Brighton Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
