This year’s Fowlerville Fair cancelled

Except for an exhibitor-only Youth Show, which is the animal show and other exhibits normally put on by 4-H, there will be no Fowlerville Fair this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our goal now is to provide the best experience for the youth who deserve the opportunity to show their projects and be recognized for their work,” the Fowlerville Family Fair Board said in a letter posted July 4, 2020, to social media.

Although the board had voted in May to go on with the event, it says the State of Michigan’s current crowd size restrictions would “vastly limit the fair board’s ability to provide an experience fairgoers would be familiar with,” as the LARA-MI Department of Licensing and Regulator Affairs is not permitting amusement devices except for ziplines.

The state’s COVID-19 numbers have been ticking up recently.

The fair board is planning to put on the traditional Fowlerville Family Fair July 26-31, 2021.
