At about 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to single-vehicle crash on Van Orden Road, east of Wallace Road, in Handy Township

A 16-year-old Fowlerville resident driving a 2006 GMC Yukon with his 15-year-old brother in the front passenger seat was heading east on Van Orden Road when he left the roadway to the right and struck a tree. The 15-year-old passenger was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing with life-threatening injuries, while the driver was treated and released to his family at the scene.

Both teens were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The accident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
