Sheriff’s deputies help nab suspect on I-96

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, Livingston County deputies were notified that the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a vehicle pursuit with a white 2008 Chrysler Sebring being driven by a 31-year-old Royal Oak man.

Livingston County deputies assisted with the pursuit as it entered into Livingston County and continued on eastbound I-96. The pursuit ended on I-96 west of Mason Road. The vehicle was unable to continue due to being disabled. The Royal Oak man was taken in to custody and then taken to St Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment due to minor injuries he sustained. The suspect was turned over to the originating agency.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office will be submitting a warrant request to the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office and requesting charges of fleeing and eluding, and resisting and obstructing police.

Eastbound I-96 was shut down for two hours during the incident.

The Howell Area Fire Department, Livingston County EMS, Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office, Ingham County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police, and Lansing Township Police.
