Police recover body of drowning victim; investigation continues

At about 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, the Livingston County Dive Team recovered from Lake Shannon the body of 30-year-old Paulina Krystyna Turowska of Wixom. Lake Shannon is located in Deerfield Township in northeastern Livingston County.

The original 911 call came in at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2018, when witnesses reported that Toruwska failed to return to the surface after going into the lake.

Recovery efforts were maintained by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the fire departments from Hartland/Deerfield, Howell, and Putnam. Livingston County Ambulance and Dart also provided assistance on scene.

Efforts of the first responders were aided by the Lake Shannon Association and community in helping control marine traffic on the water, and allowing access at multiple points around the lake.

The circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to the incident is asked to contact Detective D. Welch at (517) 540-7930.
