Authorities identified the man killed in the Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, crash at approximately 8:49 a.m. on U.S. 23 between Silver Lake and Lee roads as Duane Arthur Buers of Whitmore Lake. The accident closed down both sides of the freeway for hours.
Buers had been driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck north on U.S. 23 and crossed the median before hitting a semi-truck heading south.
Before crossing the median and crashing into the southbound semi-truck, Buers was also involved in another accident on northbound U.S. 23.
No one in the two vehicles Buers collided with required medical attention.
The investigation into the crashes continue.
