Man flagging down help, struck, critically injured in Fowlerville crash

A 22-year-old Fowlerville man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a 25-year-old Fowlerville woman Saturday at the intersection of Nicholson and Van Orden roads in Handy Township.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the man was in the roadway attempting to flag down a southbound vehicle when he was struck by a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by the Fowlerville woman. The pedestrian was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing with life threatening injuries while the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in this incident while alcohol use remains under investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours for the investigation.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Fowlerville Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS. This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.
