On Monday Oct. 1, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Meadowview in Genoa Township for a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 39-year-old Williamston resident, driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla westbound on Grand River Avenue near Meadowview, struck an 83-year-old Howell resident who was crossing Grand River Avenue.

The Howell resident was pronounced deceased at the scene while the Williamston resident was not injured.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Hamburg Township Police Department, Brighton Area Fire Department, and Livingston County Ambulance.

This crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
