Brighton man dies in suspected road rage crash on Grand River Ave.

A 48-year-old Brighton man is dead after a two-car crash on Grand River Avenue, just west of Bendix Road, in Genoa Township on Friday, April 11.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash at about 10:34 a.m. Friday. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan and an unknown black Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck were reported to have been road raging as they headed west on Grand River Avenue.

A white Ford F-350 Super Duty truck, heading east on Grand River Avenue, was in the center lane to turn left when the Chrysler Town and Country minivan moved into the center lane and hit it head on.

The driver of the Chrysler minivan, identified as a 48-year-old Brighton man, was transported in critical condition to Providence Hospital in Novi, where he later died. The driver of the Ford F350 Super Duty truck, a 38-year-old Highland man, was transported to Providence Hospital in Novi with minor injuries.

Grand River Avenue was closed for three hours for the investigation and clean up.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Brighton Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate whether alcohol and speed were involved in the accident, and are continuing to look for the driver of the black Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Deputy Bronson at (517) 546-2440.

  1. What a selfish incident. Always think about the people around you, and the fact that there are many families with children in this area. Raging with someone on the road is not just stupid, it’s homicidal. If you really have that much of a problem with the other person, then pull over and see if they wish to engage in fisticuffs so that all of us calm people can get some entertainment when you both are detained by LCSO for being absolute children.
    It’s bad enough that we have out of town “kids” coming into our community and engaging in all manner of property theft, followed by fleeing at high speeds and endangering us all, we don’t need our own residents adding to the mayhem, please.
