Howell’s FIRST Tech Challenge Team #8646 KAOS claims second place at FIRST in Michigan FTC State Championship

One of Howell Public Schools’ FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics teams is heading to the FIRST Robotics World Championship following an outstanding performance at the FIRST in Michigan FTC State Championship.

Team #8646 Kids Acting Out Science (KAOS) finished qualifying matches in first place in the Franklin Division and were named the first alliance captain. The team excelled in the payoff matches and claimed first place overall for the Franklin Division. The team then advanced to the event finals where they competed against teams for the Edison Division. Again, Team KAOS had a strong performance advancing to the final round before being eliminated. Overall the team claimed second place in the state and is one of just 13 teams from Michigan advancing the FIRST Robotics World Championship. Team KAOS also earned the Control Award at the event.

Two other teams from Howell, Team #15229 Kids Understanding Developing Outstanding Science (KUDOS) and Team #10538 Kids Inventing Learning Technology Science (KILTS), also competed at the FIRST in Michigan FTC State Championship. Team KUDOS ended qualification matches in ninth place and was selected by the seventh alliance captain to compete in the Franklin Division playoff matches where they were eliminated. Team KILTS finished qualification matches in 15th place and were chosen by the second alliance captain for the  Franklin Division playoff matches where they were eliminated.

The FIRST Robotics World Championship will be held April 24-27, 2019 at Cobo Center in Detroit.
