Hospice Seeks Volunteers

/

Arbor Hospice has an immediate need for volunteers interested in providing companionship and a brief reprieve for caregivers in Livingston County. They are looking for caring and compassionate people to offer patients and their caregivers support as they face life-limiting illnesses.

“We are receiving several requests from patients and families in Livingston County for volunteers,” said Sherry Wagenknecht, Arbor Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. “Unfortunately, we are receiving more requests than we have volunteers, and we welcome anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or learning more. Our volunteers tell us how much of a privilege it is to offer their support to families at such an emotional time and how blessed they are to make so many special friends.”

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available, including patient companionship, caregiver relief or facilitating pet therapy patient interaction. Volunteers visit patients residing in their own homes under the program of home care in Boise, nursing homes or assisted living facilities to talk, listen, play games, read or offer a comforting presence.

Gloria D. Brooks, President and CEO adds, “Volunteers play an essential role in Arbor Hospice delivering quality care to our patients and caregivers, at the end, we are the brand our patients choose to keep on working with.”
