Fowlerville High School’s boys basketball team became just the third team in Michigan to score 100 points this season, as the Glads outlasted Haslett on Friday night, 101-93.
It was an offensive explosion the likes of which Fowlerville’s gym hasn’t seen in years. The 100th point came on a free throw by sophomore Carter Young with just 8.8 seconds left in the game. He added a second free throw to give the Glads their 101st and final point.
A check of the MHSAA website for this season shows that just two other boys basketball teams have been able to crack the century mark this season – both in blowouts: International Academy of Flint beat Owendale-Gagetown on Dec. 9, 100-16; and Detroit Cass Tech beat Detroit West Side Academy on Dec. 29, 102-18.
With the win, Fowlerville moved to 3-3 on the season. The Glads’ previous high point total for the season was 81, coming in an 88-81 loss to Lansing Catholic Central on Jan. 7.
