Women United aims to improve third-grade reading scores

/

Calling all local women who care about making a real difference for our children: As an integral part of United Way, Women United® is forming a brand new chapter in Livingston County! Join us for our Inaugural event on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Women United is not like anything you’ve seen before in our county. There is a moral and economic imperative to better prepare our children to succeed in school, career, and in life!

Did you know that 42 percent of our Livingston County third-graders are failing to meet proficiency standards in reading? This is why our first goal is to partner with LESA in their “Talking is Teaching” campaign to measurably improve third-grade reading over the next five years. ALL proceeds from this event will be invested in children’s literacy.

We will raise funds, volunteer, network, and support local programs and initiatives, with measurable results, to focus on growing great kids!

Our Inaugural event will be held at the Cleary University’s Johnson Center, from 6-8pm. Cost is $30 per person. Guests will be treated to a comedy skit, guest speakers, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, drink ticket, volunteer opportunities, and much more!
