Torch 180 masquerade ball set for May 16

A Spring Gala Masquerade Ball to celebrate Torch 180’s students and programs is set for May 16, 2024 at Waldenwoods Resort & Conference Center on Old U.S. 23 in Hartland. Presented by Farmers Research, the evening’s VIP hour is set for 5-6 p.m., with the gala — featuring formal attire, Renaissance-era ball gowns and masks — running from 6-10 p.m.

Founded in 2015 and based in Fowlerville, Torch 180 is an innovative organization that runs a one-of-a-kind training center offering vocational training in a state-of-the-art restaurant facility for persons with disadvantages who seek and obtain gainful employment.

“This event is our premiere fundraising opportunity each year” said Rhonda Callahan, founder and executive director, “Each part of the night is designed to celebrate our students and their accomplishments and skills. They will be working with celebrity sous chefs at their sides to prepare a delicious masquerade ball dinner for the guests, which they will have the opportunity to present to the attendees.”

In addition to dinner, there will be a money casino, dancing, silent and live auctions, multiple raffles, and opportunities to win prizes.

The Torch 180 2024 Celebrity Sous Chef roster includes Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy; Chef Joe Mackle; Chef Bernard Meinke; WILX news reporter Erin Bowling; UPS driver Chad Corey; Outback cook Caleb Dennis; Fowlerville teacher Michelle Spisz; and real estate agent and Ingham Township trustee candidate Alesha Metter.
