Community support continues to build behind ART Doing Good as the Rotary Club of Howell’s Memorial Day matching campaign enters its final days.
A new community-inspired mural, shaped by stories and ideas shared by local residents, will soon fill the Thai Cafe wall across from the Livingston County Courthouse in Downtown Howell.
The project is close to fully funding Phase I, which includes additional community engagement walls and interactive QR code installations designed to connect people to local nonprofits, volunteer opportunities, and community events. Additional support beyond the Phase I goal will help fund future community-inspired murals and public art projects throughout Downtown Howell.
Through Memorial Day, the Rotary Club of Howell is matching every donation dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.
“Rotary is about bringing people together to strengthen our communities, and that is exactly why we believed in this project from the beginning,” said J.J. Lewis, president-elect of the Rotary Club of Howell. “ART Doing Good reflects the very best of Howell, creativity, connection, and generosity, while helping transform the walls of downtown Howell into places that tell our community’s story, spark connection, and inspire generosity. We invite the community to join us in doubling their impact and helping bring this exciting first phase across the finish line.”
“Watching people connect with this project has been incredible,” said Susan Pominville, founder of ART Doing Good. “This mural started with community voices, favorite places, memories, and stories. Now it’s turning into something permanent that reflects who we are and invites people to be part of it.”
This week, every donor, regardless of gift amount, will be recognized in a commemorative book documenting the project and the community voices behind it. Founding Partner Rotary Club of Howell, along with Visionary Partners Explore Brighton Howell Area, The City of Howell, Bank of Ann Arbor, Mugg & Bopps, and Livingston County United Way, helped make the project possible.
