Under the production of Jason Eaton, and direction of Shannon Egenolf, a robust cast of 61 students in grades 2-8 have put together a visual and musical spectacle of the smash Disney movie “Frozen,” which is sure to impress even the most avid show-going critic. For the first time ever in Livingston County Prelude will combine the visual enhancement of a 30,000 Lumen projector projecting onto a 45-foot by 14-foot Cyc Backdrop with animated backdrops from the Disney movie, along with the musical singing, dancing and acting of an incredible, talented cast, plus phenomenal costumes, special effects, and sets.
“We are really excited to share with the community what we have been preparing for the last six months,” Eaton said. “Nothing like this has ever been attempted here locally. We even had to install a 30-amp electrical to handle the power of the projection system. Think IMAX meets live musical.”
Prelude is known for pushing the envelope with the production values of its shows.
“We view our program as ‘Children’s Theater with a Broadway edge,’ meaning we have the production value of a Broadway show, with our local, talented youngsters in the middle of it,” Eaton said.
Prelude Children’s Theater is best known for its blockbuster productions of the Lion King Jr.; Madagascar Jr.; and James and the Giant Peach Jr.
The show opened last weekend. Remaining performances are set for 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Hartland Performing Arts Center, 9525 Highland Road, Howell.
