Meet the “Apartment 3A” cast: Director Kathy Booker hopes to work with cast members again

From From now until opening night on Feb. 22, the Livingston Post will be profiling cast members of the Hartland Players MainStage production of “Apartment 3A,” an adult comedy by Jeff Daniels.

1. Biographical info: Name, age, parent(s) name(s), siblings, year in school, activities, hobbies, future plans.
My name is Kathy Booker. I have two children, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one more on the way soon. I am a retired school teacher of 27 years. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love the theater, movies, concerts, reading, riding my motorcycle, and the martial art of Japanese sword.

2. Character info.
It is my pleasure to be directing this wonderful cast, who have conducted themselves as an ensemble ever since their auditions. They accept direction well, while offering their own take on their individual characters. I hope to work with all of them again.

3. How did you get involved with the production?
I was asked by the board if I would like to direct. I jumped at the chance.

4. Have you been in any other theatrical productions? If so, what roles did you play?
I have had the good fortune to be in a myriad of theater productions. Some of my favorites are: “Annie” (I was Ms. Hannigan); “Steel Magnolias” (four times); “Secret Affairs of Mildred Wilde,” “Murder at Howard Johnson’s,” “Office Hours,” “Moon Over Buffalo,” “Belles,” and many, many more.

5. What do you most enjoy about being part of the production?
This is a great venue, and I love being a part of this group. I would like to see many more people in our audiences, as I believe the talent here is outstanding.

6. Who is/are your inspiration(s)? Why?
Now that I am retired and settled in my home, I would enjoy traveling. My original aspirations in life were to be and mother and grandmother. So blessed to be both! And now a great-grandmother!

7. What’s your favorite part of the experience of being in the production?
I enjoy acting immensely, but when I get a chance to direct, I am also very happy. I enjoy the experience right from auditions, to set building, to closing night.

8. What can audience members expect when they see the show?
The audience can expect to laugh, do some personal reflection, and be generally entertained by an outstanding cast. We are asking for parental discretion, as we deal with some adult content. Bring your friends for a wonderful evening of theater at its best.
