Parents who have plans to send their kids to summer camp, including local day camps, will have an opportunity to meet representatives from area camps and ask them questions on February 4th at the Camp Fair in Brighton.
Livingston Parent Journal, which has published a Camp Guide for Livingston County since 2004, is organizing this event. They are expecting about two dozen camps to send their representatives.
“From the beginning, the camp experience has been about education,” according to Peg Smith, chief executive officer for the American Camp Association. “Even when campers are learning a specific skill, like archery, they are learning more than just where to put the arrow and how to hold the bow. Campers are actually learning about respect, developing an awareness of those around them, and gaining self-esteem. Camp educates for tomorrow — and educates for a lifetime.”
YMCA Camps Ohiyesa and Nissokone, Howell Conference and Nature Center, Wildwood Ranch, Independence Lake County Park, and Sunny Days Summer Camp, among others, are already scheduled to attend.
The camp fair is free. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Green Oak Village Place. Call 866-806-1680 for more information or click here.
