Does your child read articles about rock music artists and want to learn how to rock out like the pros? Do they play an instrument or sing? Would they like to jam with other musicians?
Then Garage Band Camp could be for them.
Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney is sponsoring Garage Band Camp next week (July 25-29), and it’s open to any student entering grades 5-8.
During this week-long camp, students will learn the building blocks of forming a band with Pastor Chris Steubing, a professional songwriter, recording artist and worship band leader at Shalom Lutheran Church. His website can be found here.
Through daily jam sessions and practical lessons in Shalom’s worship center, students will be introduced to the basics of rock band instrumentation and equipment, stage performance, songwriting, and creative collaboration through music.
The week will culminate in a final project by each student designed and performed with and for their peers.
Whether their interest is in songwriting, playing an instrument, singing, or behind the scenes production, organizers say that children will have a blast learning from Steubing and each other at Garage Band Camp.
The camp runs July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $100 per student with a 25% discount for siblings.
To register or for more information, call 734-276-2682. You can sign up now and you don’t have to pay until the first day of camp.
