Kathy Markovich — known professionally as Kat McButterfly — is a third-generation artist and former figure skating coach who knows well the healing power of art: she’s lived through her share of struggles, which include a traumatic brain injury that resulted in several surgeries. These days, she uses her artwork to spread joy and positivity. If you’ve seen painted storefront windows in Livingston County, you’ve likely seen her work. The Howell City Council recognized her as an “outstanding citizen” in 2024, thanking her for “all she does to add character to the city.”
