Holiday concert featuring Peter Madcat Ruth and Dr. Mike and the Sea Monkeys

Get into the holiday spirit with Mike Ball and Grammy-winning harmonica virtuoso Pete ‘Madcat’ Ruth, who will perform at the Brighton District Library from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 on a portable stage. Hear a mixture of classic and modern holiday favorites, which include Madcat’s famous harmonica. Register by calling (810) 229-6571 ext. 227.

Be ready to sing, tap, hum, and shake to an evening of holiday tunes, old and new.  Enjoy music that’s quirky, funny, and sometimes heart-rending, with a powerfully rhythmic acoustic sound.

Peter Madcat Ruth

In addition to singing and playing the harmonica, Peter Madcat Ruth plays blues harp, ukulele, guitar, high-hat, jaw-harp, penny-whistle, kalimba, banjo, and other folk instruments from around the world. His repertoire of styles includes Blues, American Roots Music, Folk Music, Jazz, and World Music.

Mike Ball is a syndicated humor columnist and an award-winning author. When he’s not writing, he’s performing with his band, Dr. Mike and the Sea Monkeys, of which Peter Madcat Ruth is a frequent member. Ball sings lead and plays guitar, banjo, ukulele, resonator, and djembe. He’s been performing musically since the 1960’s and bases much of his music around songs written from his columns and books.
