FlexTech High School hosting open house for upcoming year

FlexTech High School in Brighton is hosting its annual open house event from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, to give participants the chance to learn about its innovative, project-based learning model, meet teachers and support staff, and experience a taste of what the school has to offer. You can register for FlexTech’s Open House here.

FlexTech High School provides a supportive, flexible, and safe learning environment for its students. It allows for students to bring their passions into the classroom, and it provides learning opportunities including a full culinary arts program, dual-enrollment, and community partnerships.

“FlexTech teachers work incredibly hard to make learning experiences relevant for students.  Through real-world projects, students understand not just what they are learning but why they are learning it,” said Nick Wasmer, executive director of FlexTech Schools.

FlexTech is a great place for students to spend their entire high school careers, but transfer students thrive as well. “When I asked my son if he was excited about summer break, he actually said he was going to miss school. Wow,” said the parent of an 11th-grade transfer student. “This year has been 100 times better for him and us (compared to his previous school).”

Students who attend FlexTech have access to a Maker Space, industrial kitchen, supportive community, and highly trained staff.

Network Instructional Coach Joy Lyman says,

“I have never worked at a school before FlexTech that offered so many resources, interactive activities, and support to its students,” said Network Instructional Coach Joy Lyman.

During the Open House, prospective students and their families will be able to tour the building, ask questions, and learn more about the high school and its innovative program.
