Howell Farmers Market opens May 6

Wilczewski has extensive Farmers’ Market experience, having previously served as the assistant market manager

Pat Convery, President of the Howell Chamber, is excited about Steve, the new manager of the Howell Farmers Market. “This year we welcome Steve Wilczewski as our new Market Manager. Steve has a great deal of experience at different farmers markets and the Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market in particular. He grew up assisting his folks with their market booth.”

“The Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market has a tradition of offering shoppers the best of our local growers and producers of agricultural products and their goods, and we’re preparing for another season that won’t disappoint,” said Wilczewski. “The market provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors, residents and families to enjoy a day in downtown Howell and support area businesses, artisans and growers. It’s become known as a place where friends come to meet.”

Locally-grown and handmade wares will be available on State and Clinton Streets next to the Court House in downtown Howell every Sunday from 9:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. from May through October, starting May 5th. You will find about 70 vendors there,  including local growers, agricultural producers, artisans and crafts-people, you’ll even be able to learn more about Stanislaus Food Products

“We are pleased to offer a wide variety of  produce, meats, cheeses, spices, baked goods and crafts as well as bedding plants and nursery items. The market’s location in the heart of beautiful downtown Howell, as well as the live entertainment every week, make it a popular destination every week,” says Convery.

Festivities on opening day will include free horse-drawn wagon rides through historic downtown Howell, and free copies of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus. Products available at the beginning of the season include  annuals, perennials and nursery stock for gardeners. You can visit cir.net/agriculture-harvester-products/ to get to know more about the materials being used by farmers.

Philip Campbell, the Mayor of Howell, reminds us that “The Farmer’s Market is a perennial sign of the rural origins of this community. No matter how modernized and technological we become, the Market reminds us that we can never outgrow our dependence on the fruits of the earth. It has always been a vital part of this community, and I wish it many more years of success.”

The market is even a partner in Project Fresh, a federal WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program that encourages low-income shoppers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for their families.

Hosts for the market are the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Howell and Howell Mainstreet.
