For four decades, the Community Theatre of Howell has been entertaining us with musicals, plays, kids’ shows, radio plays, and improv shows.
And now, it’s celebrating its 40th anniversary in grand fashion.
CTH’s 40th Anniversary Red Carpet Gala and Performance takes to the stage Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m. The event takes place at CTH’s home, the Howell High School Freshmen Campus, 1400 W. Grand River Ave., Howell.
The lobby will open at 6 p.m. with a pre-show reception featuring hors d’oeuvres and sparkling mocktails.
The show will feature dozens of CTH regulars from the past 40 years performing a “greatest hits” of musical numbers from the group’s past. In many instances, the cast members will be reprising their original performances in those roles.

From “Guys and Dolls” to “Beauty and the Beast” to “Hello Dolly” and more, dozens of CTH hits from the past will be brought back to life on the stage where they were first performed.
Also included in the evening will be bits of CTH’s history in the community. The group was founded in 1986 as the Mid-Michigan Performing Arts Company of Howell, later changing its name to the Mid-Michigan Fine Arts Association. The Community Theatre of Howell was born from there.
The first-ever show was “Lion in Winter,” which was performed in May of 1986 – exactly 40 years ago.
Whether you’re a CTH season ticket-holder or a relative newcomer to the community, it’ll be a night of unforgettable entertainment and memories.
Tickets are $20, available by clicking here. The full list of performances is below.
