Cleary University men’s soccer earns player of the week honors

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its Week 3 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards, and Cleary University junior Liam Coyle was named Defensive Player of the Week. Coyle was chosen for his big day on the backline, helping the Cougars capture a 3-0 victory over Ohio Christian University in Circleville, OH. According to sports reports, Coyle “was all over the field, clearing passes and helping hold Ohio Christian to no shots on goal.”

Cleary Athletics also is proud to announce that, In Week 1 of the men’s soccer competition, WHAC awarded Cleary junior forward Lesman Morazan the Offensive Player of the Week honors. He scored two goals in the season opening match against Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor.

In only three weeks into the WHAC soccer season, Cleary captured two Player of the Week awards.

Student athletes are nominated by their host institutions’ sports information department (SID) and selected through a vote by conference SIDs.

Coyle comes from Nampa, Idaho, and Morazan’s home is Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

In addition to these awards, at Cleary’s men’s golf season opener at the Lourdes Fall Tournament in Ottawa Lake, Cleary’s team finished in a first place tie with Lawrence Technological University in Southfield. This is the highest finish the Cleary Cougars have captured since the 2019 – 2020 season.
