Charyl Stockwell Academy (CSA) District on Feb. 5, 2020, celebrated the launch of construction on the Charyl Stockwell Academy Middle School. The transformed, state-of-the-art middle school will open in August. Located in Brighton across the street from the current Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy Middle School and High School campus, the 28,000-square-foot building will undergo a series of transformations including a 14,000-square-foot addition.

“We are thrilled about this addition to the thriving CSA community,” said Jessica Moceri, CSA District executive director. “As combined enrollment across all of our school programs continues to climb, the new middle school will provide the space we need to help our students reach their goals. We are ready to welcome more students to the CSA family.”

CSA District is partnering with Stone Ridge Office, a company headquartered in Brighton, to transform an existing 42,000-square-foot space into CSA Middle School.

CSA District is aiming to build out the new facility as a space of collaborative, college preparatory learning with modern instructional space for team teaching and flexible grouping. Installation of a full competition gym will include an Michigan High School Athletic Association-regulation track. There will be accessible parking amidst other upgrades.

“This project has been in the works for over two years. It’s long anticipated and we’re thrilled to see our vision come to life,” said Matthew Stewart, CSPA principal. “The new middle school campus adds a level of flexibility in our programs that will lead our students to success.”

The CSA District currently consists of the Charyl Stockwell Montessori Academy Preschool, CSA Elementary, CSPA Middle School and CSPA High School.

“Our long-term vision is to provide up to 1,400 students in the CSA District access to the highest quality educational experiences that are accessible to all students,” said Chuck Stockwell, CSA District founder. “We envision a district large enough to provide a rigorous and comprehensive Pre-K through 12 program, yet small enough to offer a private school atmosphere that nurtures the close relationship between each individual student and teacher.”

The district currently has 1,120 enrolled students. CSPA High School will expand into the space that once housed the middle school.
