We are pleased to welcome a new contributor to The Livingston Post: Kathy Markovich, known professionally as Kat McButterfly. A third-generation artist and former figure skating coach who knows well the healing power of art, she’s lived through her share of struggles, which include a traumatic brain injury that resulted in several surgeries.
These days, she uses her art to spread joy and positivity. Anyone who lives in Howell, or who has been to Howell, should know Kat, and if they don’t know her, they’ve seen her artwork making the community a more vibrant place. The Howell City Council in 2024 recognized her as an “outstanding citizen,” and thanked her “for all she does to add character to the city.”
Kat approached The Livingston Post about running her cartoons, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. The subject matter of the cartoons in “Kat’s Korner” will run the gamut, from local happenings to national politics and everything in between. One thing is for certain: we’re sure that they will make you smile, laugh, and think.
You can see her first cartoons by clicking here.
