Theis condemns violence at U.S. Capitol

State Sen. Lana Theis, R-Brighton, released the following statement on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in response to violent protestors disrupting the joint session of Congress:

“Our founding fathers gave us a country with a free government of, by and for the people. Today, the attack on our republic by those storming the U.S. Capitol undermines the very foundation of our nation envisioned by the founders in the Constitution. There is no defense for these acts of violence, and they need to stop immediately. I am grateful for the thin blue line, standing in the gap to preserve our republic and protect our nation’s Capitol against violence.”

  1. Too late. You had a chance to step up and tell your constituents that the election was NOT rigged but you chose to remain silent as false information was spread. I am embarrassed that I voted for you.

  2. You are too late in your concern regarding this violence at the captial. You were part of the actions that fomented of it by suggesitng that congress should duly cofirm it by counting the voters votes.

  3. Lana Theis can’t have her cake and eat it, too. She signed on to the conspiracy theory of a rigged election in favor of supporting Donald Trump. She announced her intent to protest (pointlessly and impotently) the completion of the electoral vote count. She thereby invited whatever her co-Trump supporters served up. Stow it, Lana. And examine both your conscience and your values.

What do you think?
