The Brighton Arts and Culture Commission will kick off The Story of Us: Summer Performance Series on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in downtown Brighton. The free event will be a progressive night of exploration, fun, and artistic appreciation with music by the Royal Garden Trio, food from Buon Gusto, Brighton Bar and Grill, Downtown Main Martini Bar and Grille, Proper Cup, and The Torch, as well as a DIA Inside|Out Art Walk.

A pre-event mingle is set for 5 p.m. at Studio West Gallery, 111 S. West Street.  There will be refreshments, graciously donated by Brighton’s own Buon Gusto, Brighton Bar and Grill, Downtown Main Martini Bar and Grille, and the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. The pre-event will lead into the DIA Inside|Out Art Walk – a docent-led walking tour of 10 famous DIA reproductions on display throughout the City as part of the DIA Inside|Out program. The Art Walk will begin at 6:15 p.m. at Studio West Gallery and end at 7 p.m. in the Sculpture Garden.

The Royal Garden Trio will play a concert in the Sculpture Garden beginning at 7 p.m.  Comprised of three Michigan natives, the Detroit-based Royal Garden Trio is known for its ragtime and swing-inspired jazz medleys that pay homage to the jazz greats of the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s. With Brian Delaney on guitar, Mike Karoub on cello, and Tom Bogardus on clarinet, this triad of musicians will transport you back to another time. Dessert will be provided by The Torch, a non-profit food truck raising money to help fight hunger in Michigan, and Proper Cup will be serving coffee during the show.
