U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin

Slotkin raises over $2.8M in fourth quarter of 2023

U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s U.S. Senate campaign today announced that it raised more than $2.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, bringing its total amount raised to over $11.7 million since its launch – a record-setting haul for a U.S. Senate campaign in Michigan.

It is widely expected that the general election race will pit Democrat Slotkin against Republican Mike Rogers, a former congressman and one of Livingston County’s favorite sons. You can read why that match up could be one of the biggest Michigan races in 2024 by clicking here.

But first, Slotkin — whose district includes Livingston County, and who has served three terms in Congress — must make it through the Democrat’s August primary in which he will face several candidates, including  actor Hill Harper, who has raised about $558,000 from donors and given his campaign $463,000.

Rogers, who raised over $800,000 the month after he launched in the previous quarter, will be facing off in the Republican primary against former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, former U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer, and businessman Sandy Pensler.

From October through December, Slotkin’s campaign added over 11,000 new donors who had never previously contributed. The campaign begins election year with over $6 million cash on hand.

“Since this campaign launched almost one year ago, tens of thousands of ordinary people have chipped in what they could because they know Elissa and the priorities she’ll bring to the Senate — fighting Michigan’s middle class families, standing up to special interests like Big Pharma, and protecting our rights and democracy,” said Austin Cook, spokesperson for Elissa Slotkin for Michigan.

The campaign has collected donations from all 83 counties in Michigan, and 92% of all donations have come in at $100 or less, highlighting strong grassroots support for Slotkin’s candidacy.

Since entering the Senate race, Slotkin has consolidated support from 17 of the largest unions across Michigan, including the Michigan Education Association (MEA), the Michigan Building Trades Council, the Michigan Pipe Trades Association, the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA), and the Michigan State Conference of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), among others. Those unions collectively represent more than 300,000 Michigan workers.

Throughout 2023, Slotkin was also endorsed by Congresswoman Haley Stevens, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords & Giffords PAC, former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard, and State Senator Mallory McMorrow.

Slotkin has picked up support from more than 20 members of the Michigan Legislature and organizations including EMILYs List, VoteVets, End Citizens United / Let America Vote, Foreign Policy for America, and the Progressive Women’s Alliance of West Michigan.
