Lisa Ludwinski, 2019 Michigan Notable Book author, will be at the Brighton District Library 7-8 p.m. Monday, June 17, from 7-8pm to talk about her book and Detroit bakery, Sister Pie. Books will be available for purchase, and pie will be available to try. egistration for the event begins Monday, June 3.

Lisa grew up in Milford, and studied theatre arts at Kalamazoo College before moving away to Brooklyn, N.Y., to pursue a career in film. Six years and one cooking show later, in 2012, she moved back to Michigan to launch Sister Pie out of her parent’s Milford kitchen.

By 2015, they were able to move the shop to Detroit.  On April 24, 2015, Sister Pie opened to a line out the door and a dozen new employees, and they’ve been hustling ever since. Since opening, they’ve been nationally recognized and featured in Bon Appétit, the New York Times, Eater, and Bloomberg News. Over 38,000 people follow their hijinks on Instagram every day. Ludwinski currently lives with her dog in the West Village of Detroit.

This program has generously been sponsored by the Library of Michigan and the Friends of the Brighton District Library. The Brighton District Library is located at 100 Library Drive, Brighton, MI.
