Pinckney Community Schools proposes moving school start date to Sept. 8

With plans for the fall still up in the air for the fall – whether students will be allowed to do in-school learning or whether districts will be forced to do all distance learning, Pinckney Community Schools is looking at pushing back the start of school to Sept. 8. It was originally going to be Aug. 24.

In a Facebook post today, Todd wrote:

I will be proposing to our Board of Education on Aug. 6 that we move the first day of school to Tuesday, Sept. 8, which is the day after Labor Day.
I understand that this would be the second time we have changed the first day of school date as we changed it from Aug. 31 to Aug. 24 just a couple months ago when we felt confident that the COVID situation was improving and that we would be ready to fully open earlier in August. But as we are all witnessing, it is next to impossible to plan given the fluidity of the pandemic as what we know today can and will change by tomorrow and we must be willing to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the situation.
