Meghan Reckling named new chair of Livingston County GOP

Meghan Reckling has been elected the new chairperson of the Livingston County Republican Party. Reckling takes over from Dan Wholihan, who did not run for re-election. The election took place on Dec. 6 at the Livingston County Republican Party Executive Committee meeting.

Reckling has a long history of working in politics in Livingston County. She has managed several campaigns, and currently works in Lansing as an aide to State Rep. Lana Theis, R-Brighton Township.

“It is an honor to be elected to serve tonight, and I am excited to with with everyone over the next two years ensuring we keep Livingston County red,” Reckling wrote on Facebook.

The county GOP did have a big showing in 2018, keeping Livingston red as a blue wave washed over the rest of the state. No Democrat won even one municipality in the election. Reckling has her work cut out for her in 2020, starting with helping to win back the 8th Congressional District seat from Democrat Elissa Slotkin.

Joe Riker was elected Vice Chair, while Daniel Schifko was elected treasurer and Kathy Jacksey was named secretary. Timothy Kandow was elected Youth Vice-Chair.
