“Tuck Everlasting” is based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. It tells the story of a family who drinks water from a magical spring and becomes immortal. When they encounter a young girl who lives in their rural New England town, she becomes friends with one of the sons, who soon offers her the secret to everlasting life. She then has to decide if she wants to join her new friends in immortality, or if she will live out her normal life. A timeless story of family, loss, friendship, and love, Tuck Everlasting is sure to become a classic favorite.

The show is directed by by Susan Gronow and Alyssa Friday. The student director is Emma Rider. Produced by Katie Johnson and Alicia Rider.

From now until opening night, we’ll be introducing you to members of the cast. In today’s story, we meet Ethan Stang, a 13-year-old from Hartland who is a seventh-grader at Cornerstone Christian School in Brighton. His mom is Jennifer Stang, his dad is Eric Stang and his sister Annah is a student at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.

What performing experience have you had in the past, either with CTH or anywhere else?

I’ve performed in productions at Cornerstone Christian School, including “The Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast.” I also enjoyed playing the roles of both Shrek and Rudolph with Encore Youth Theater in Hartland. This is my first full production with CTH, although I participated in their summer camp last year.

What do you like about “Tuck Everlasting”?

“Tuck Everlasting” is such a beautiful story. I love its meaning and how it will send you home thinking about your relationships and what it means to live forever. The show deals with some serious content, but it can be really funny at times.

This is not just your ordinary children’s play. The characters have a depth to them that makes them very interesting. The music is amazing and I never get tired of listening to it and performing it.

What role does your character play in the story, and what do you like about playing your part?

Miles Tuck is the oldest son in the Tuck family. He’s a complex character who can be serious and even sarcastic. I like playing the role of Miles because there’s much more to him than meets the eye. We learn a lot about him and why he seems unhappy as the story is told.

Why should the audience come see the show?

Everyone in the audience should be able to relate to this show in some way. The themes of love and loss will help people have a new appreciation for their own lives. Everyone putting this show together is working very hard to tell this unforgettable story. We hope to have a full house!

What do you like doing when you’re not on stage?

When I’m not performing, I like hanging out with my cast mates, and I’ve made so many friends through this show. I also enjoy technology, roller coasters and Nerf blasters.
