Ally Johnson

Ally Johnson, 17, is a senior at Howell High School, where she is involved in Classicality, Highlander Chorale, New Group, A Cappella, student conducting women’s varsity, and Advanced Drama. She is also a cantor at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The daughter of Kelly and Tim Johnson, Ally enjoys singing, reading, hanging out with her friends and family, and fishing. She is planning to attend college and earn a degree in music education and performance, and she hopes to perform opera while giving voice lessons; she hopes to become a music professor later in life.

How did you get involved with the production?
I am very active in the performing arts community at Howell so I always hear about any kind of performing opportunities.

Have you been in any other theatrical productions? If so, what roles did you play?
I have been in “The Wizard of Oz” as a munchkin, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” as a sewer kid, “The Little Mermaid” as a seagull, “The Forbidden Cabernet” as multiple characters from different shows, “Rock of Ages” as Waitress #1, and now “Mamma Mia” as Donna Sheridan.

What do you most enjoy about being part of the production?
I love all of the music from “Mamma Mia.” I love listening to ABBA even before it was announced that we were going to do “Mamma Mia.” The story line is also very exciting so I enjoy that as well.

Who is/are your inspiration(s)? Why?
Sierra Boggis because when I heard her sing in “The Phantom of The Opera,” I knew that I wanted to sound like her. I have always worked in any kind of performing arts activity so that I could be the best I can and live up to her.

What’s your favorite part of the experience of being in the production?
I love the dancing. I do not have much experience with dancing but I still love doing it. It has been so much fun learning these intricate dances and challenging myself.

What can audience members expect when they see the show?
A lot of hard work and dedication from the cast and many funny and emotional scenes. All of the cast is excited to show everyone what we’ve got!!
