“Mamma Mia” set to light up the stage in Howell

The Howell High School Performing Arts Department will have the crowd dancing in their seats and tapping their feet as it presents the smash hit musical “Mamma Mia!” Set to the music of the acclaimed international music group ABBA, “Mamma Mia!” will delight audiences of all ages.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16, in the Howell High School Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and can be purchased at https://howellperformingarts.ludus.com.

Set on a Small Greek Island, “Mamma Mia” tells the story of Sophie (Haley Matta) and her dream of the perfect wedding, one that includes her father walking her down the aisle. However, Sophie doesn’t know who he is. Her mother, Donna (Ally Johnson), the former lead singer of a 1970’s pop-group, refuses to talk about the past, so Sophie decides to take matters into her own hands. Sneaking a peek in her mother’s old diaries, she discovers three possible fathers: Sam (Lucas Somers), Bill (Ethan Norton), and Harry (Mason Burley). Sophie secretly invites all three to the wedding, convinced she’ll know her father when she sees him. But it may not be as easy as she thought when all three turn up.

“We are excited to bring ‘Mamma Mia!’ to the stage of the Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center. This show has delighted audiences worldwide with its fun soundtrack and humorous storyline,” said Joey Burgam, “Mamma Mia!” director. “Our cast has been working incredibly hard, and we cannot wait for opening night.”

The Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center is located at 1200 W. Grand River Ave., on the north side of Howell High School.
