Longtime Brighton business owner Larry Lawrence passes away

The community of Brighton is mourning the passing of Larry Lawrence, 72, a longtime business owner in the community who, along with his wife, Kate, has owned and operated Lawrence Auto Body in downtown Brighton since 1977. Lawrence passed away Tuesday, April 30, following a battle with cancer.

Lawrence was a Brighton fixture for decades, volunteering his time and talents for a variety of community groups. He was also a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Lawrence’s wife, Kate, is a current Livingston County commissioner, a former Brighton mayor and a former member of the Brighton City Council.

Visitation has been set for 3-8 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Brighton. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, with internment at Brighton Hills Cemetery following.
