I applaud our team of Democratic state senators and representatives for recently introducing a package of seven bills aimed at alleviating the effects of climate change on Michiganders, and better protecting the residents of our state.
The increased frequency in recent years of high winds, heavy storms, power outages, and flooding due to climate change, unfortunately calls for investment at the state level in climate resiliency projects, infrastructure upgrades and policy initiatives aimed at financial assistance for those in need.
This legislation, part of the Climate Resilience Plan unveiled by Democratic legislators last August, will help to improve our environment and create good-paying jobs.
I look forward to the introduction of additional legislation in Lansing aimed at ending our dependence on the fossil fuels responsible for damaging our environment to clean energy solutions.
