League of Women Voters hosting candidate forums

The Livingston County League of Women Voters has two candidate forums set for the upcoming elections in the cities of Brighton and Howell.

Brighton forum details:

The City of Brighton forum will be via Zoom with guest moderator Jon King from WHMI-93.5 FM, and the recording of the forum will be shared following the event, which is set for 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. The recording will be available at lwvbrightonhowellarea.org and the LWV Facebook page.

The following candidates will attend: Bill Albert, Susan Bakhaus, Jon Emaus, Jordan Genso, Paul Gipson, Renee Pettengill, Kris Tobbe and Jennifer Winningham.

Questions can be submitted to lwvbrighton.howellarea@gmail.com by noon Monday, Sept. 20.

The League of Women Voters is an organization that does not endorse candidates or political parties. It does encourage the informed and active participation of citizens.

Howell forum details:

For the mayoral forum, Bob Parker has declined the LWV’s invitation to participate, and council candidates Lee Ann Blazjewski, Jacob Schlittler, and Luke Wilson have not responded to their invitations.

Appearing in Howell’s virtual forum, with the platform provided by the Howell Carnegie District Library, will be mayoral candidate Bob Ellis, and city council candidates Jan Lobur and Kevin Shopshire.

The Howell forum is set for 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. You can watch the livestream at bit.ly/hcdlyoutube.
