LACASA celebrating 35 years with community open house

Renee Chodkowski The Great FoodiniLACASA Center, Livingston County’s nonprofit agency dedicated to supporting and advocating for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, is hosting an open house to celebrate its 35th anniversary.

The celebration will take place from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at LACASA Center, 2895 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell. LACASA officially was incorporated on May 18, 1981.

Guests will enjoy light hors d’oeuvres; sweet treats from Renee Chodkowski, The Great Foodini; and a variety of refreshments. A special historical display will walk guests through the agency’s growth over the years. Musicians from the Livingston Symphony Orchestra will perform throughout the event.

Open House attendees can tour the 19,000-square-foot facility, which houses a Crisis Shelter, Sexual Assault Response Center, forensic interview area, adult and children’s counseling center, Safe Pet Place shelter, legal advocacy offices, and more.
