Oceola Township resident James Bruney is running for the District 2 seat on Livingston County Board of Commissioners as a Republican. District 2 includes all of Deerfield and Oceola townships and Hartland Township Precinct 2.

“After talking to the residents and other leaders the past few months, I decided now was the time to step up and run,” Bruney said.

The theme of his campaign will be “Your voice matters.”

Bullet points of his campaign themes will be the following:

  • Strong on safety
  • Demanding excellence in services
  • Communication Guarantee
  • Accountability
  • Financially responsibility
  • Support for our veterans
  • Winning the war on drugs

Highlights of the campaign will be community forums, outreach, and “Fun Raisers.” Bruney said he is sick of fundraisers “offering a few drinks and asking for money”; instead he will be offering community events of no charge, and if people want to donate they can.
