Participants in this year’s Fantasy 5K  will receive a special race T-shirt designed by Howell High School senior Adrea Eskola.  Eskola, a student in the school’s advanced digital imaging program designed the shirt as a class assignment. For the assignment, the students met with Michelle Tokan from the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce to learn what the chamber was looking for in a shirt design and when the designed was needed. From there, each student created their own unique design and submitted them to Tokan for review by the Fantasy 5K committee.

Eskola created her design using Adobe Illustrator. Her inspiration?

“I was thinking about the season and winter and what goes along with it,” Eskola said. “I thought there were a lot of good designs in the class, so I was surprised when mine was selected. It will be cool to see all the runners with the shirt I designed on.”

“This project provided students with the real-world experience of working with a client to meet their needs,” said John Mozdzierz, Howell High School digital imaging teacher. “I am very proud of Adrea and all of the students for their hard work and outstanding designs.”

“All of the designs created by the students were amazing,” Tokan said. “It was a very hard choice, but after voting the committee selected Adrea’s design.”

For creating the Fantasy 5K T-shirt design, Eskola will receive a free entry into the race, a swag bag of current and past Fantasy 5K merchandise, and recognition on the race website and in chamber publications. Additionally, she will ride in a horse-drawn carriage with Howell Mayor Nick Proctor during the Fantasy of Lights Parade at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, in downtown Howell.
